APPROACH

Integrated Trauma-Informed Somatics

Change happens in the body, as well as in thought. Body and mind are inseparable aspects of being, knowing, and growth.

I integrate somatic techniques to support you in increasing your sense of safety within yourself, with change, and in relationships. Somatic approaches are trauma-informed and include, for example, listening to emotions, fostering dialogue between parts of self, and accompanying thinking with mindful breath and movement.

By building safety in our partnership, you will develop your ability to work through things instead of talking around them or running into overwhelm.

Buddhist Psychology

I believe that you, not theory, are the organizing principle of your health and healing.

You will see me listen for your inner resourcefulness and resilience and reflect back at you the ways you are not wrong.

I will also invite you to look at your relationship with suffering. This is not unlike climbing a hill to see the larger landscape: you are not your suffering and new pathways can be found. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Anti-oppression

I believe that there are freedom and connection to be found in examining the influence of culture and context. And, that agency and constraints coexist and intertwine in the same identity.

I will encourage you to notice what narratives manifest in your life and echo in your relationships. What has become normalized and marginalized? On what basis and with what consequences? What if narratives were subverted? â€‹

In therapeutic work, I practice anti-oppression by involving my clients in assessing how helpful therapeutic modalities are to them. Also, by examining and being accountable for my impact and by consulting with communities of practice.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Leadership development

I am passionate about leadership development--the impact of leadership is far-reaching, across society and the world!

I've researched how to support leadership development in my Ph.D. in Personal Development and Implications for Leadership from Cranfield University (UK). Over the years, I’ve gained experience as an executive coach and facilitator.

As a therapist, I leverage this experience to assist clients in demystifying the process of learning and development and translating insights into practical and value-aligned actions.

Mindfulness

Practicing mindful movement and meditation are integral part of my personal and professional growth.

I've studied yoga, trauma-informed yoga teaching, and meditation. If relevant to your goals, I might explore your interest in integrating customized practices in your therapy. This has helped many of my clients reduce stress and increase self-regulation.

ABOUT ME

I am white. I am Italian. I am American.

I understand sexuality and the social construction of gender in non-binary ways.

My practice challenges me to radically see and understand you.
